Jot Jot Jot

I am a commulearner. If there isn't such a word, then I use it for me and define it as a: a learner who learns during her/his commuting time.
I might write about this someday later, commulearner, I encourage you to do that, it is very effective. Especially in a high traffic cities.

So during my commuting of averagely 1.5 hours, I mostly listens to great teachers in personal development such as Jim Rohn, Zig Ziglar, and John Maxwell, they are among the greatest influencer of my life. I believe I am very blessed to be born in the era where I can just listen to the teachings of great people via youtube.

Today I would like to share about one of Maxwell's teaching. About the laws of growth. He said (which he also learned from another teacher) growth is not intentional. If you wanna grow, you have to plan it. You cannot just sit and say: when I am 60 I will be growing a lot then when I am 30. Well, haven't you met a 60 years old person whose life is in a poor condition because of his bad personality and bad lifestyle and bad choices? and vice versa, Zig Ziglar at his 30s already makes million dollars.

How could it be?

The law of Intentionality! How do you do that? Ask God, what is your talent. Everyone is born with talent, some has a lot, some has a few, it does not really matter, what matter is : do you use it and seize it to its best potential?

Next?

Now that you know your talent, plan what do you want to use it for, and how will you develop that talent or skill?

Maxwell said the key is this: (concentrate, read through, this is very important)

Plan, practice, evaluate: on daily basis. And at the end of the week, spend an hour to write about your evaluation on what you have done during the week, evaluate your progress against your goal on the improvement of the specific skill.

For example: John wanted to grow in communication, so everyday he spend 1 hour to watch great communicators, and learn and observe why do they failed or succeed in engagement. Within certain periods, he became a master in understanding audience engagement.

This sharing by John really inspired me. Because I have a dream, and I have plan, and I believe in my dreams. I pray that I can use my talents to their best and give others the benefit.

what about you, what is your plan for growth in your life? If you don't have one yet, it is not too late.

Go make one! :)

XOXO,
The Commulearner
